Brain Zap and Tremors from Lexapro and Burspone.

Has anyone experienced brain zap and tremors from Lexapro and Burspone? I make an appointment with my psychiatrist about my problems and she said it can’t be her prescription medicine. I tried to tell her I’m having problems and she said it’s because I was on clonazepam for so long and to get with my neurologist. I had seen my neurologist in July because of stopping the clonazepam in May and not being weaned off. The shaking was slight in June but now is full blown. Has anyone had this type of problem with medicines? I, also, take Keppra for seizures, Cholesterol Medicine, an Aspirin daily. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My doctor (a geriatrician) said Lexapro is recommended at 10 mg a day for seniors. I keep wondering about increasing it, because it worked so well in the past at 10 mg, and now not working as well. My friend, also a senior, is taking 20 mg. A day and it’s working well for her.

I had a seizure risk from craniotomy done 2014. I now have a breach rhythm which is abnormal but non epileptic. I was tapered off clonazepam in 2018 under medical supervision over 7 months. I am concerned for you do to your mention of tremors and brain zaps. I also take generic lexapro 10 mg daily just began about 3 weeks ago due to severe constipation from duloxetine. Do you have a neurologist you can see?

OK. Did she think neurologically you were stable? EEG done recently? My first AED was dilating and I had tremors. Then I was switched to topiramate 400mg daily had tremors . I was on clonazpam top at the time and an eeg showed encephalopathy from the dilating and clonazepam. My doctor at the time refused to reduce dosages so I found another neuro who did. Under her I was switched to topiramate tapered off clonazepam and then topiramate dosage lowered to 150mg daily. My tremors disappeared my memory executive functioning critical thinking improved rapidly. What about dose reduction in the lexapro trying meditation tai chi? Life style changes that help you?

I’m not sure until I can figure out what is causing the tremors and brain zaps. I have had an eeg and it showed as stroke.

I am sorry to hear this. Very sorry. Have you had further follow up for the stroke?

REPLY

The doctor said it was minor. I think my PCP might be wrong about the medicines, anxiety, depression and my stroke.

I have had a craniotomy in 2014. I had to learn a lot of new things. And relearn. Any thing effecting the brain can affect everything else. Can you discuss your concerns with your PCP or even find another provider?
