Follow up, @celia16 - it's not .. after having a conversation with two docs, and given the timing and the location of the pain, they are 99.9% sure it is not that. Some of the symptoms associations with LC are "gut" issues. Maybe one day we'll know. Thanks!
According to this article "High stress and anxiety levels can stimulate the stress response in the body, which often alters a person's sense of taste. Anxiety can cause dry mouth, which frequently results in a bitter taste."

Are you experiencing high levels of stress around the same time as this started happening?
Same here I have had dry mouth / white tongue for 6 months. They've given me a medication to help produce saliva. But that does not take care of the bitterness salty taste in my mouth. I'm going to 3 ENTs been tested for children's disease and lupus. So they are sending me to a oral specialist in Boston bring them in women's hospital in June. I live in Maine dentist don't even know what to do with me. Good luck

@synthiame Yes, several of us have posted about a constant salty or bitter taste or both, that no doctor has been able to cure or even know what is causing it. Is your taste problem all day or only when you are eating. I am okay for the most part when I eat except for really salty foods which taste even saltier but my taste issues last all day. I have tried the medications that produce saliva but they do not help and I have tried everything that all the different specialists have recommended without any success. I do have Sjogren's disease but those patients seems to have no taste at all, or the taste is bad only when they are eating, not all day. Let us know if the oral specialist comes up with a diagnosis or at least some treatments that actually work.
I will let you know cuz I know it's really important everybody has a different story. I do also have something that helps me with the saliva and it is working it is better and the saltiness is lessen but I think it's because I have more saliva.
I do. Is that what it sounds like, and if so, why have docs not asked?! Thanks.
I was referring to the post that described severe abdominal pain. I have multiple family members who had that and ended up being gallbladder.

1 Reaction@lisa1963 , here is a link for a thread that has more recent posts. No sure if it’s relevant to your situation. I don’t have Sjogrens, but posted on it due to similar symptoms. I had bitter taste that turned to salty. Hopefully, you’ll get some responses.
