Evenity injection site pain

Posted by neesie0159 @neesie0159, Oct 8, 2023

Last week I had my 3rd Evenity injections. The MA told me with the first ones that they don’t cause sore arms because they’re given subcutaneous instead of IM. I had them in the morning, by evening my arms were very painful and that lasted into the next day. When I called the rheumatology office for advice I was told this never happens. Right. Same experience the second shots, though slightly less pain. Last week I had a different MA give the injections and mentioned the arm pain, she said that shouldn’t happen. Very minimal pain that time until late afternoon, then I was strapping ice packs to my arms.
Has anyone else had injection site pain?

I think most of us know the difference between discomfort and PAIN.

I agree. With my 1st of injections, I had pain in my arms. I couldn't bear them to touch my sheets, so I couldn't sleep in bed. I had to sleep in a recliner with my arms across my chest. However, for me the 2nd and 3rd set of injections I had in my abdomen with minimal discomfort. What a difference--for me. Just sharing my experience in case it might help someone else.

Agreed, this went well beyond discomfort.

Thanks, I appreciate this. My only concern is that getting them in a different location will just cause the same amount of pain in that spot. I’ll definitely consider asking for them in the abdomen though.

I had the same concern, but took the chance. Fortunately, it turned out to be a good decision for me. If you decide to try the abdomen, let us know how it turns out for you. Best wishes!!!

Had my first Evenity shots yesterday. The left arm injection was not a problem. The right arm injection burned somewhat and was uncomfortable. Today my left arm site has just a little redness, about an inch in diameter. My right arm injection site is hot to the touch, has a lump in it, and has redness about 1.75 inches in diameter. Go figure.

I've posted this before, but saw your post and wanted to share. I received my 1st set of Evenity injections in my arms and they were extremely sore for several days (much better after a week). I decided to have my 2nd set in my abdomen--very little discomfort! It was so much better, I had sets 3-12 in my abdomen also. I was able to wear jeans and waisted clothes with no discomfort at all. No guarantee, but it's worth a try the next time. Let us know how it goes.
