Anyone with BRCA 2 mutation taking Olaparib?
My Dad was detected with pancreatic adenocarcinoma last year in January 2023. He had Whipple surgery in August 2023. He completed 12 cycles of FOLFIRINOX prior to surgery.
He had a recurrence in liver after few months in March 2024. He did 3 cycles of gem-abraxane. On gene testing we found out he his having BRCA 2 mutation for which Olaparib was recommended by our physician.
He is having extreme weakness now. Is it the side effect of olaparib?

Thank you. I will ask if she has that type of pancreatic cancer. As a 43 year old suddenly being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, she has not wanted to know of or share details or think of any consequences other than recovering. She was very fortunate to have been admitted to a hospital in Southern California when going to the ER earlier this year in intense pain which also is associated with a Center for Excellence in pancreatic cancer. I appreciate your suggestion.
Did you have substantial shrinkage of your tumor(s) during chemo prior to going on Olaparib?
My last CT scan in early Sept. of '23 showed the tumor on my pancreas. Size was 7.3 cm. long by 3.5 cm. wide. Also, several lesions were visible on my omentum, I believe that's the abdominal wall. And 3 lesions/tumors on my liver. A laparoscopic biopsy showed all areas as cancer. I do have the genetic BRCA 2 mutation. After 12 cycles of Folfirinox that ended in early April of this year, the CT scan then only showed one remaining tumor on my liver. All the other tumors were not visible. I started the Olaparib at the NIH in early June. I was dropped from the clinical trial last week as the CT scan that day showed an increase in size of the tumor on my liver compared to a CT scan 2 months prior and the Olaparib was obviously not working. My local oncologist here in NC has shown me a treatment plan that I agree with but I'm not going to elaborate on that unless asked.
