@donnabl, I can imagine that it is kinda scary when you read about the Y-90 procedure and it says "An interventional radiologist inserts a small tube, called a catheter, into an artery in the groin or wrist and threads it to the identified vessels that supply blood to your tumors." (https://www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org/hometown-health/speaking-of-health/targeted-radiation-therapy)

@revjohnson and @alfonso22 both reported that it isn't painful, but I'll let them explain a bit more about the procedure, what to expect and how you can prepare.

Donna, you will be able to go home that same day as the procedure. Do you have someone going with you to the appointment to be your support and take you home?

It's really nothing to worry about. It's just that its typically a long day at the clinic from check-in to check-out.

Y90 is simple small pain my was by my groin some burning I rested for a day and I was ok yes need to be careful since it goes to main artery so need to take it easy I was lucky no side effects some minor discomfort in my case my 2nd was TACE same procedure but with chemo chemicals that was a little more painful for me more side effects but overall no bad within day back to normal again careful where the catheter goes in hope this help

I'll be there for 4 days I will have 2 surgery September 10th and the 13th and I can come home yes I'll have my daughter there for me as my boyfriend is scared he's going to get radiation but I don't no if he can can you tell me if I have to stay away from family and pets I have a dog that can not be without me and I heard I have to lock myself away from people so I don't give them radiation so I'm interested into knowing what I can do for this please thank you and bless all the cancer people 🙏🙏🙏

Hello Colleen, I see that you are the leader / Director. If you can do anything in regards to putting word out for John would be much appreciated. He is losing much hope, mainly because he / we have little or no communication as to what's going to happen next?? This is so stressful nobody could believe. I wish we had a dog.........cats just are there.
