Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?
Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

Back braces have helped me a lot for pain when I had new vertebral fractures.
Thank you so much for replying. May I ask what kind of brace you been prescribed? My brace is extremely uncomfortable- it has been called “ cash” brace which has one plate on my tummy area , connected with some metal piece which comes almost to my neck and one on lower back . The part on lower back keeps digging in my spine. I can only wear when I walk. I wish I can wear more, but I can’t drive or sit with this brace on. So far the brace is giving me more pain than help. But I am trying. Not sure if I should ask my pain doctor to give me different kind. I really need to get rid of this horrible pain which taken over all my life.
I had my second shot of Evenity yesterday. So far I don’t feel any bad side effects but same was after first one. Side effects started after first week and lasted about a week. I hope this time will be better.
I was told to wear a brace as little as possible. To avoid muscle atrophy. For my fractures I have only been given a soft brace with velcro that tightens it.
I ordered my brace online from a company called Braceability. https://www.braceability.com/
They were very helpful and size is important. Their braces can also be found on Amazon with quicker delivery.
I only used my brace when recovering from a fracture and it may be important not to wear it very often as per @windyshores.
I absolutely agree. My pain doctor wants me to wear the brace from the morning to the evening . I can’t imagine doing it. Not sure what I am going to do. The pain is burning/ stabbing. I remember you’ve mentioned that you had a few fractures. How fast they stop hurting? I had a vertebrae fractures almost 2 years ago, but I don’t remember they hurt this bad and healed pretty fast. This is very different continuing day and night pain. I am not sure how to get rid of it at least partially.
@sunny65 my last fractures were three lumbar. The pain was unbearable. I was crawling on the floor. I live alone and couldn't function: cooking, laundry and of those things were almost impossible. I stayed in bed and only got up to go to the bathroom, and getting out of bed was agony. I learned to roll.
A physical therapist gave me free Zoom instruction on movements I might be able to do, after awhile (this was during COVID). I tried to walk as soon as I could, even if a half block. I did tai chi on my own when I could. Moving a little as soon as possible helped, I think, in the long run.
My fractures were mid-April I think and in 6 weeks I was considerably better.
It is now 3 1/2 years later after Tymlos, a few months Evenity, one low dose Reclast. I still have pain off and on. I believe a lot of it is muscles coping with the shortened spine: they spasm.
But overall you WILL feel better. I know very well the agony you are in. Do you have help? If not I would hire someone: I wish I had even if I had to pay.
Did you have the burning/stabbing before you started Evenity? I took 11 doses of Evenity with increasing burning/stabbing mid back. Finally after 11 shots I bailed. After about 6 weeks it felt better. I started Fosamax and only had 2 doses because the back pain came zooming back. I stopped that one as well and will start Forteo tonight. The pain was awful really upending my life. I still have some discomfort but more like a 2 or 3 out of 10 rather than an 8. Good luck and I hope you find a solution.
I had an awful stabbing pain 3 months prior Evenity. Burning started after I started Evenity. I did nuclear bone scan one week ago and I was diagnosed with two additional stress fractures which were very recent. I just guessing that I got them at therapy. I would like to continue Evenity because this is my chance not to get more fractures. The pain is unbearable. The brace didn’t help so far. Trying to figure out what kind of brace I really need.I have to start new therapy August 6. My pain doctor telling that this going to be different than anything I had before . I will try and hope that this help to minimize my pain.
The pain will get better @sunny65. PT will probably tell you to minimize use of the brace and use it for pain relief - my doctor and PT both said not to use it unless really necessary. Where were your stress fractures?
Evenity caused burning for me and apparently a few others judging from the forum- but quite rare.
I hope the PT is knowledgeable. My first one had me lie on a hard table on my back after spinal fractures and I got out of there fast! There is no rush for PT in my experience and I basically limit it to massage at the suggestion of the really good PT I finally found.
I have husband who helps me a lot. I am trying to walk short distances. I wish I can wear brace ordered by pain doctor. I have consultations with different doctors. Trying to figure out why I lost so much weight. I think from pain. I take occasionally Tramadol just to give myself brake from debilitating pain. My husband just ordered for me different brace to try . I heard that to wear brace all the time not good idea. Since my back pain started I been having numbness and pain in my knees. I am sure this pain is related to my back. What kind of Tai Chi exercises you were doing and did they helped with pain? One of my consulting doctors thinks that my pain might come from annular tears as well. It is very confusing.
