What would cause dents in the top of my skull?

Posted by abp2 @abp2, Aug 1 8:59am

I've noticed within this year a dent in the top of my skull. Approximately two months ago I noticed a second one. I recently received a MRI which came back normal. The dents appear to be getting more pronounced . Understandable I am very concerned but I'm uncertain what to do next.

abp2, schedule with an endocrinologist or rheumatologist. Mention Gorman-Stouts. There are a number of conditions that can cause these dents, and you want to rule them out or receive treatment. I hope it's heavy sunglasses. Keep us posted.

@gently thank you. Wouldn't that show up on an MRI?

It would show concavity in the skull, but can't diagnose cause. Are your dents shallow enough that they don't register at all. Since we all have these declivities, some since birth and some acquired over time, do you think you may have always had them and only recently noticed. Deepening dents in the cranium deserve investigation. Were the dents the reason for the MRI.

Yes it was the reason for the MRI and everything came back normal. So they may be too shallow to notice. And they are new. I had noticed only one but now have two. I have an endocrinologist and honestly never thought to mention it to her. I am going to try to get an appointment with her as soon as possible. Thank you so very much.
