I did a Google search first. Mayo have a site that says Metformin and other prescribed drugs can give a false positive result. Then I contacted your support group

If you have been doing Google searches, you may have read some of them.

You might try searching PubMed for published medical articles on subject.

Example, here is one, but it is very old (2015):
