Anyone had pelvic pain with FIGO Grade 1 endometrial cancer?

Has anyone had pelvic pain and been diagnosed as stage one uterine cancer?

@sor1959 Before my diagnosis for endometrial cancer (after hysterectomy it was staged 1a) I had postmenopausal spotting and cramps that were very much like those I had many years ago when I was young and had my period.

Are you experiencing pelvic pain? Are you worried about the possibility of uterine cancer?

I have been diagnosed with grade one endometrial uterine cancer and they “think” it’s stage one. I will have my hysterectomy next Wed. And will then know what stage for certain. I am nervous that I might have another stage because I am having bladder pressure and some cramping and generally feeling pelvic discomfort. Most online info. Says pelvic pain is associated with later stages. Trying to be more positive but the pain and wait are sometimes difficult.

@sor1959 You probably know this but I'm going to write this anyway. Every "case" is different and every person is different. I suggest you stay away from online information and the "rabbit hole" because unless you are reading published research or information from valid and reliable sources such as Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic the information you have found may not be reliable. I can't say whether pelvic pain is more associated with later stages as I had pelvic pain too and after my hysterectomy I was Stage 1a. This meant I was diagnosed and treated at an early stage and there was no cancer outside of the uterus lining (the endometrium).

My surgeon told me the following. My endometrial cancer would not be "staged" until after the hysterectomy. The tissue was sent to the pathology lab where pathologists (medical doctors) view the tissue under a microscope and then assign a stage.

You might be referring to FIGO Grade 1 which is a different type of designation. FIGO stands for International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

FIGO classifies what the cells of the uterus look like. Here is a good website from the Canadian Cancer Society that explains in detail what is meant by FIGO Grade.

Here is more information on Staging from the American Cancer Society:

Do you think that the doctor told you FIGO Grade 1?

Thank you! I just get very nervous as the pain is worsening each day. Called my gyn/oncologist and waiting.
Yes it is FIGO grade 1.
Very anxious to have the surgery and diagnosis.
Thx again🙏

@sor1959 From what I was told FIGO Grade 1 is good as it means that the cells in the uterine lining have not differentiated into so-called "abnormal cells". With worsening pain I'd be on the phone to my gyn/oncologist too to see if the date for surgery can be moved closer in time.

Will you let me know when you get through your gyn/oncologist?

Maybe I'm just really good at being in denial but what I try to tell myself is when something is unknown, I can choose to think it's good or it's bad.

So why go to the bad if it could be good? It doesn't always work but it's worth a try?

Is there any harm in thinking or visualizing the best outcome instead of the worst?

I know being human means we worry and I get that as well and I don't mean to minimize the fear at all.
Please do let us know how it goes I was in a similar situation 3 years ago.

Yes I totally agree! It is much better to visualize the best outcome 🙏❤️
Thx for your thoughts and encouragement. My surgery is Wednesday and I am looking forward to having that complete and behind me.

@naturegirl5 Thank you so much for this post. I too have pain in my pelvis and back with this diagnosis of Endometrial Adenocarcinoma, Endometrioid type (FIGO stage 1) and immediately thought the test results said I was stage 1. It did not. I also have bladder pressure, urgency and frequent urination symptoms. My Dr. explained the staging would come after surgery was performed. I really wanted to understand the FIGO stage 1 reference as well as the the actual staging when it came to me. I will be looking up those sites. Thank you for your help. 😊

@sor1959 I just noticed the date of your post, which means you have completed your surgery. How are you doing? I will be praying for your complete recovery. Your symptoms sound exactly like mine. Endometrial Adenocarcinoma, FIGO grade 1, with bleeding post menopausal, pelvic and lower back pain similar to menstrual pain when I was younger. As well as bladder pressure, urgency, and frequency which actually started the whole process months ago with blood in my urine. This progressed to the bleeding and the pelvic pain has been here for months and is getting worse. This led me to a GYN and a biopsy and diagnosis. I haven’t met with my oncologist yet so I don’t know when I will have surgery, but I know I am headed for a hysterectomy in my near future.

I am praying for your recovery, thank you for sharing your story. God Bless! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
