Mass in lung
Hi, I’ve recently been diagnosed with MAC. It was found after I went to hospital for SOB ct shows a large mass. Biopsy showed no cancer “thank god” they grow the Mac from the scope they collected.
I have been reading this site for 2 days now. Been on big 3 for a week. I don’t know if I feel side effects from the Rifampin, or withdrawal from my pain medication. The doctor didn’t mention that all my other medications would be eaten up by my liver as soon as they get in blood stream. He didn’t mention much at all just watch liver kidney. He’s no longer my doctor. If he omits that information then he’ll omit testing results and I am not okay without knowing.
Does MAC cause mass? I’m getting a PET scan done 1 of August. At Henry Ford I think they Still feels there’s cancer there. So Im waiting till after that to get bloodwork drawn.( don’t ask me why. Liver kidney function aren’t effective by cancer.
With the use of the Rifampin has anyone had to increase the dose of their blood pressure meds or other meds?
Thanks Mike

Hi Mike
Rifampin interacts with lots of medications. You can check your particular medications on line by looking for medication interactions. I had to increase doses of a couple to still be effective.
Good luck with the treatment and remember to readjust doses when you stop the rifampin
MAC can present as a mass in your lungs, though it more commonly presents with multiple nodules.
Thank you
