Evenity and belly fat?

I've wondered about that too. Just had Evenity #7 and I take no other medication, haven't changed my eating habits or exercise habits and had weight gain mainly in my belly in the couple months which I found very odd. Have no other issues (that I know of) with Evenity.

Sorry it is happening to you, but your comment makes me feel more sane! 😂 I am up for #6 soon and have decided that I am just grateful I am otherwise fine and hoping it is helping my bones and that it will go away with a little effort after #12! I continue my 5000-7500 steps a day and PT exercises for the fracture, with healthful eating in the meantime. Best to you!

I have gained 10 lbs with belly fat as well. I have amped up my strength training and feel strong. Im trying to embrace the extra weight as a sign of stronger bones since my clothing size hasnt changed

I have had 5 sets of Evenity shots. I had a ravenous appetite after I got my first set. My belly is bulging too. Since putting 3 to 4 pounds on during the first 2 months of Evenity, I have tried to cut out desserts, extra carbs and sugar. I have lost 2 pounds but the belly remains. I walk 3 miles 5 times a week. I hope it shrinks after Evenity.

9 months of Evinity done and have had a gradual increase of about 4 lbs- belly fat!! Reassuring to read others comments as I don't feel like I am eating more. No side effects (other than this weight),

I think I would want to know what is the action of Evenity that causes the belly fat. These medications do not work in a vacuum but also affect other functions.

Hi, I too have gained belly fat with little or no weight gain. I am on my 7th shot.
I have never had belly fat before and definitely do not over eat and exercise daily. I think it is due to EVENITY. Not sure if it will be a permanent fixture once done the 12 months.

Here’s my take on belly fat. Most of us with osteoporosis have lost body height (inches). If that is the case, the fat redistributes to other parts of the body, such as arms, thighs, breasts, etc. Possibly that is why we see larger bellies. I have noticed my very thin thighs are no longer so thin … so some fat must have redistributed itself there.

Sclerostin is the protein targeted by Evenity. While it is known that this protein has a role in lipid and glucose metabolism. Several 2023 studies have worked the issue without yielding much. A person could guess that the accumulation of those belly cells is a consequence of blocking sclerostin. They might also guess that the fat will disappear sometime after you discontinue Evenity.
