Menopause after breast cancer
Hi
It has been 7 months since they took me off my H.R T. I was on it for ten years. I felt fantastic, I have just started having wicked symptoms. Anxiety. Depression, sadness, fatigue, mood swings. It's crazy.I feel like I am going crazy some days.I just want to feel like myself again. I saw my general practitioner yesterday , so she has referred me to an Endocrinologist which I will have to wait 2 to 4 wks to see. In the meantime I am taking lorezepam .When the panic attacks hit. I do vagifem for dryness but it doesn't do anything other than address the vaginal dryness. I do not understand why the cancer clinics do not have support for women after treatment. My hp does not believe in anti Depressant which is so wrong

I’m so sorry as I had the same reaction when I was taken off HRT after uterine cancer, I tried a lot of remedies and acupuncture etc eventually it wore off… really sorry as I know it’s awful
Hi
Thanks I didn't think it would be this bad. Some days I feel like I am going crazy. The anxiety and fatigue and hot flashes are not fun. Can you tell ne what symptoms you had . Oh and the brain fog. I am going to My endocrinologist fir help
Hi Sue yes the hot flashes were horrific as my face would go really red and then I got rosacea, had anxiety and brain fog.. after 6 months my surgeon put me back on HRT which was a huge relief, but I did get cancer again last November and I’m off HRT again.. it’s not as bad this time but I’m still getting hot flashes not as badly as before… I miss HRT but I’m nervous about it now, my oncologist is not keen on the idea.. Hope you get good news from your endocrinologist x
Hi
I am sort of confused. If you already had breast cancer , was it hormone positive?
I was told I cannot have h.R.T ever again because I am hormone positive cancer. My Endocrinologist there are other things he can give me
Hi Sue sorry I’ve confused you I didn’t have breast cancer, in 2018 I had uterine cancer and had a radical hysterectomy I didn’t have any other treatment after the operation, but last November I was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer, (cancer if the omentum) (I know I’d never heard of the omentum either) an op is not really an option in my case. I had chemotherapy and I have to have scans and checkups every 3 months..
Hi
Oh wow I have never heard of that. I am sorry that sounds scary. I hope it goes well. Why would you not be able to stay on hrt. Do hormones affect this type of cancer.
I’d never heard of it either! It’s the lining of your gut and it holds a lot of vital organs which is a scary thought. I’m in remission at the moment. Think it is hormone driven, at the moment my symptoms are not bad enough to pursue the HRT option but I’ll give it a bit if time… x
Hi
Glad your in remission. It's very scary for sure. I just ran into my girlfriend.Who found this Doctor she is the nurse. She told me she has been on cipralex for her menopause for years. I am hoping my endocrinologist will put me on it. She also has fibro and a heart issue like myself. I really pray for your recover❤️
Should say whose son is a doctor . Also if I can't get the help of need she will get me into him. I have some hope now
Hi Sue thank you so much for your good wishes and I really hope you find something that works for you.. please let me know how you get on.. every good wish x
