daily headache pain

Posted by shack @shack, Jul 21 6:00am

My wife has a daily headache, nothing seems to help but a steroid shot in the neck will give her a couple months relief, only allowed 3 of these in a year, then its back every day. Can anyone tell me if they have had this and how got relief.

@shack, i'm sorry to hear that. is she afraid it might cause more trouble than it's worth? or has it been too long ago to help? make sure you read @samcal9977zz comment. it's very good and insightful. danny5 💙

Thank you for writing. You are fortunate to be able to take Topomax. I was put on this med a few years ago with untenable side effects. I was loosing weight (which I didn’t need to begin with - had normal weight) extremely fast to the point where I was getting too skinny, and it affected my brain and “dumbed” me down. Take care. I sympathize!

Topomax did dumb me down for sure. It is the trade off game. I’ve met many times with my neurologist to discuss this and if the migraines or the topomax could be causing long term brain changes. I did retire early my brain just didn’t work well enough. I was lucky I was able to.

I have had daily headaches since I was 14, I am now 68. I have tried just about everything on the market. Have had all kinds of tests done. The only thing that ever helped was aimovig a once a month shot. It was such a relief to not have a headache. Then after about 9 months it just stopped working. I had to go to a pain clinic in order for a rx to get it. I will be going back to the pain clinic to see if they have a different medication to try. Try to get into a pain clinic to see what they can try. Make sure to list everything your wife has tried and what reactions or results were.

I’ve had NDPH for 22 years. Tried everything out there, seen every type doctor. Exercise, traction, meditation, yoga only things help get down to 7 pain level.

I have been living with a daily headache for about the last 15 years. My neurologist has tried every scan and every new therapy out there and nothing worked. She finally asked for an MRI to examine the blood vessels in my head.
There was an incidental finding of three small unruptured aneurysms. If an aneurysm happens to press on a nerve, this could cause headaches. Perhaps you could have this investigated. All the best to you.

I’ve tried everything for NDPH: only activities that help are exercise, meditation, yoga, low stress, great support group, online Facebook groups for headaches and Migraineur’s.

Attend / or online global migraine summit, and subscribe to 8-10 migraine / headache groups w articles
