FND , Functional Tremor. Diagnosis

Posted by SusanEllen66 @SusanEllen66, Jul 1 6:52pm

I was just diagnosed by a Neurologist who specializes in movement disorders with Functional Tremor. It is type of FND.
According to the information I was given, there is uncontrollable shaking of a body part, usually an arm or leg in Functional Tremor.

My tremors started less than 2 months ago. The episodes of arm, hands, legs, and feet I get are sporadic, fast motion shaking.

This is NOT the same as essential tremor.

Have you looked up the medicine on the internet and checked if tremors are one of the side effects? Also, you could ask your pharmacist.

@AlwaysHopeful I have spoken with 3 doctors they all said it would be best to slowly wean myself off and see what happens.

Well, I would defibitely follow their suggestion. Perhaps there is some "chemistry" between the three that is not healthy for you. Take care and keep in touch.

I have also been diagnosed with FND. Medications didn't help due to side effects. I has botox which helped initially but I lost all functions in my hand and arm for a very long time. I am now doing nothing.

My reply is incorrect. I was thinking that SusanEllen66 was taking three medications. I completely blanked out on she was referring the three doctors. Sorry - I thinki I had better take more naps!

Not to worry. I have dementia so a nap does help, but I wish it helped more!

So far, I’m just about finished with the Armodafinil.
I am still getting spasms when I get stressed, or nervous.
They told me to do full body muscle relaxing. I forget…

I have a tablet that plays audio books. I turn that on and it always relaxes me (usually I fall asleep). I have no memory of the plot of the book!!
