MOVING AND EXERCISE WITH PMR
Hi 🥰
Here's a minute video from Mayo about the importance of moving. It's essential as we get older, and especially with autoimmune disorders (PMR, etc) that we MOVE, stretch, exercise, to maintain our mobility and balance. It's difficult and discouraging when we're unable to reach, bend, sit, rise - - basic activities hurt!! But as much as possible, we should make a sincere effort to get our lives back. We can do this! 🤗

They're good stretches and not hard to do but you can feel them working. And no pain afterwards. I do the head turns and shoulder rolls during the day whenever I remember and the neck is definitely feeling less stiff.
I like Aiko and April whose exercises are especially for older folk. I used to follow them before PMR and tried them again today. We will see tomorrow if they cause pain. Hopefully not as it is fairly gently movement.
I am back in the gym at last and feel brilliant. I still have problems with the left shoulder but it has improved. I used to exercise for hours before PMR made itself known but now happy with 2000 metre row, 500 SkiErg, 1 mile slow jog on treadmill then 20 minutes on spin bike. I always stretch afterwards and practice getting up from the floor. Pleased to say some muscle has returned.
Thanks for sharing, VERY helpful!
This is so encouraging!! Thanks. 😊
Does infrared red light therapy help with PMR and arthritis relief?
Please advise which kind to purchase if this is the case. Should one use an infrared red sauna?

Very helpful. I have a PMR/Physical therapy playlist on my YouTube channel. I try to do the exercises every other day.
Thanks 😊
I looked into red light therapy and it seemed promising to try to reduce inflammation and joint aches, so I was prepared to pay for the best red light setup I could afford. My doctor is open to things that work and cause no harm, but she gave me a big NO to red light therapy while taking prednisolone. The combination is apparently not good. It's one of the things I'll be looking at again once the prednisolone is finished. In the meantime, we can all get natural red light exposure from morning light. The more time outside in morning light each day, the better.
