Also they stopped working and I called Hear.com and they told me I needed my charger to get them to work. I don’t carry my charger with me. Also I called Heat.com and stayed on the phone for 10 minutes and they told me they would call me back which they never did

Does anyone have any experience with Signia hearing aids? This is the brand that my insurance will assist with payment. Does Signia have different styles, like in the ear or behind the ear? any info would be helpful. Thanks!

No but my audiologist told me they are the same as Signia IX hearing aids which will become available to everyone at TruHearing by the middle to the end of May.
TruHearing is a resource you should check out for any hearing aid. They can tell you if there is an audiologist in your area that works with them.
I hope this helps because for the top of the line Horizon IX hearing aid you are looking at probably $7,000 plus for the pair.

I am trying out some hearing aids in Austria. They are the 'cheap' ones covered by insurance, but still almost 1500 Euros for the pair. I have to say, even those help. I heard that using hearing aids can help delay or prevent dementia. I can only imagine what the 7000 USD ones sound like. I am sure they also have BlueTooth so one can tune-out instead of tune-in.

I tried Horizon IX and they have one major flaw. They are dependent on your cell phone. If the volume is too low on your phone your aids can’t work and if your hearing aids stop working for any reason and you take them out of your ears, your cell phone won’t work. Nobody will hear you.

Did you try turning off Bluetooth on your phone? The hearing aid app uses Bluetooth. If the hearing aids died the Bluetooth may not have disconnected.

Bluetooth is not always user friendly. I am testing Horizon now and my audiologist said, because I have an android phone, it’s probably not worth the bother to to disconnect my phone to then connect to my IPad that I use to stream TV.

I should also add that my hearing loss is only moderate so streaming audio directly to the hearing aids is maybe nice but not necessary

Sorry, I’m just thinking this through. If the Bluetooth on your phone was connected to the now dead hearing aids it may have been directing the audio to the Bluetooth outlet rather than the phone’s speakers. Disabling Bluetooth should fix that.

I have never had great success with Bluetooth, so I bought a pair of Audien Pro. They are way less expensive and my hearing isn't bad so they work well for me. They come with a charger. 149$

I have been wearing my new Signia IX behind the ear hearing aids and I am half the way through my trial period. I have profound hearing loss and they are much better than my AX platform Signia hearing aids.
Unfortunately TruHearing does not offer the Styletto IX yet but my new hearing aids only cost me $1,800 for the pair.
I can’t stress enough that if you suffer from hearing loss and you are on Medicare check out the Humana Gold Plus plan. They were originally $2,100 but I applied my flexible spending card and received another $250 off.
The card can also be used for all over the counter vitamins you might be buying.
At least worth a phone call.

Does anyone have a good experience / efficacy with OTC hearing aids? As such, I understand that one does (some) of the work of an audiologist but if one has the results of a hearing exam (e.g. Costco), is it pertinent to "do it yourself"?
Experiences / suggestions much appreciated -
