I have read that you shouldn't take Fosamax for over two years and there has to be a reason. I wouldn't take medication that's causing pain if it's truly the reason. People on this feed have talked about other ways to improve bone, like Stronium and weight lifting exercises. Maybe you could consider something else besides Fosamax?? May God bless you!

I am discontinuing the Fosamax. Just not worth it. I feel I've lost 2 weeks of my life. I don't want to go on Prolia, I had Forteo and felt so good on it but had to stop after 8 months because my alkaline phosphotate levels rose (and my dr said that was not good), started Evenity which I took for 11 months and had to stop because of back pain, and now Fosamax. I know Reclast would have the same effect on my back and don't want a year of that pain. I am going for a second opinion to Cleveland Clinic in September so I'll just have to be careful till then. I do have an appointment at a pain clinic and with and orthopedic doctor in the next couple weeks to see if something else is going on (compressed nerve, herniated disc, etc). Thanks for the advice and kind words.
