I took cymbalta for residual nerve pain from two spine surgeries (and some depression due to that). I really liked it and noticed an improvement in both my pain mood but the constipation it caused me became unbearable. I was disappointed because it really worked for me.

The constipation is the downside. My old school family doctor told me to take as vitamin C as I could until my bowels were loose. I’ve been taking 6000 IU a day for 14 years and have little problem. I love the cymbalta. Great drug

That was my problem as well....after 5 days of no bowel movement I decided I was done though my pain level was good. I'd rather deal with pain than constipation. Did a bowel prep 9 days after my TKR due to no bowel movement If it's a side effect I'll have it and I tried everything and nothing helped.

If that is the only unbearable symptom, why not take a stool softener, or if that doesn't work try a laxative. I go for a mild one though...
