Lexapro for anxiety

Posted by 1956windstar @1956windstar, Jul 2 4:35pm

I want to start to take .5 mg Lexapro(Escitalopram) for 7 days and then .10mg after that for Anxioty.
Has anyone have side affects from the medication.
I have Anxioty now for 6 months. They called it long covid anxiety.

I will say......you will never have an orgasm on Lexapro. Blunt but true.

@mikaylar While many of the antidepressants have an effect on sexual function these effects are not the same for everyone. For some people orgasm may take longer but it does not disappear altogether. I'm speaking from my experience and the experience of others I've talked with.

I have used lexapro for anxiety for a few years now and it has helped a great deal with very few side effects. I am able to be more social and better in my communication with my husband, also just more relaxed in general. My family doctor and several psychologists have said that it is very safe for long term usage. I do have a decrease in sexual desire, but also do still enjoy sex.

I never had a problem, not everyone has the same side effects.

I’ve been on Lexapro generic version for over 25 years. Tried going off but found I need it to deal with circumstances. With any drug, there are side affects but you have to weigh both sides sometimes to make the choice.

Thank you all for the reply. Very helpful.
After several discussions with my doctor he wants me to take .5mg of lexapro with .25mg lorazepam daily For 1-2 weeks.
I was taking .25mg in morning and .25mg at night of lorazepam for two weeks. It helped with my anxiety.
I just hope this will work for me. I’m just very nervous to use both. I guess I’ll start tomorrow. I just can’t take the anxiety anymore.

I started yesterday taking the Lexapro and lorazepam. Day wasn’t to but I was lightheaded and tired. Hard time falling asleep. Today lightheaded and tired. I’m having anxioty now since the lorazepam is wearing off. Did anyone have the same issues?

I’ll be going from 5mg of Lexapro to 10mg. Has any one have side affects going from lower dosage to the higher one?

I started taking 5 mg Lexapro a few weeks ago. Have been using the 5 mg for about 5 weeks and decided to try the 10 mg dosage. I had a very bad headache and neck stiffness from the 10 mg so I went back to the 5 mg dosage which does work for me. Perhaps if you take 5 mg in the morning and then 5 mg at night you may not have any issues.

I’m glad the 5mg is working for you. That’s a good idea. Thank you.

I went from 10 to 20 mgs overnight. My body hurts all over I told my doting was having problems but she convinced my family I was just scared of taking the medicine. I told my children but no one wanted to listen to me. I have severe neuropathy now and my eyes were effected too. My daughter didn’t have a problem until her blood pressure went up and she got dizzy. She went to the focus for they took her off Lexapro and put her on Zoloft. She didn’t like the side effects. I have had a hard time on all the medicines.

I started just like you I felt the same way but it gets better. I started taking Lexapro at 5:30 at night and lorazepam in the morning around 10:00 that helped me. I did this for the first week. This week I’m just on the Lexapro. Good luck!
