Tingling fingers part of PMR symptom?

Posted by andirae @andirae, Jul 7 1:32pm

Been tapering for about 5 months. I have reduced my prednisone level from 7.5mg for quite a few weeks to now 6mg. On 6mg for 3 weeks now. As part of this reduction I have noticed some tingling sensation at times in my forearm and fingers. Never noticed before this taper. . Is it a symptom of PMR?

@chrisgh

Hello, I am new to this group and recently diagnosed with PMR. Since the onset of symptoms, I have had significant tingling in the hands and fingers- almost as if my fingertips were asleep. When symptoms were most acute, I was waking (almost without fail around 3 am) with stabbing pains in my hands. Am responding to prednisone but the tingling in hands and fingers remains. My diagnosis is still so fresh that I don’t have a rheumatologist appointment for a couple of weeks but this is a question I will ask about and post reply. Best to all.

The theory I heard was that the nerves for the hands run through the part of the neck that PMR is causing to be stiff. So it may just be a bit of nerve impingement. My hand stiffness comes and goes. You can try icing your neck to reduce swelling. Excellent answer during a hot summer day.

Thank you, I will give that a try!

Is there anyone that is newly off of prednisone (within the last month) that has experienced edema in the lower legs and tingling of limbs? I'm only off Prednisone for two weeks and was wondering if this is part of the tapering process.

I am not on prednisone...trying the low dose Naltrexone and supplements route instead. I started having symptoms of PMR in September with sudden and severe pain, BUT for months prior, experienced odd tingling pains in my hands fingers and toes. These pains have subsided after 1 month on the LDN. I just figured it was part of the disease.
