Is anyone taking CoQ-10 for Long COVID? I'm looking for recommended brands and dosage.

I take 200mg daily. It is one of my more expensive supplements so I shop Amazon and tend to favor Nature's Best but basically it's whichever brand is most affordable at the time.

What do you believe it does for you?
I have taken so many vitamins and supplements with no discernible improvement. It’s hard to keep taking handfuls of pills that make no difference, though I have continued this behavior for over two years!

I started take CQ10 because I do take a statin which I can barely tolerate due to muscle pain. I thought perhaps I needed the CQ10 and that was why I am having PVCs all the time since COVID back in November. Well, the result is.....I still have every other heart beat is a double (bigeminy). But I am no longer constipated all the time. 🙂

I have trouble with rapid heartbeat, it started in November 2022 after a bout with covid and still it’s going on. I had a referral for a cardiologist who ran some tests and concluded that my heart is beating too fast. I also have sweating and sometimes tremors, it’s almost like heat flashes when you have menopause but stronger. The heart specialist asked me if I was stressed and I am but when I said it started with covid he didn’t make a comment, however he asked me if I would consider a psychiatrist. This wasn’t the help I wanted but I have to start somewhere, I feel very frightened because I’m not getting good medical care and my options are limited, the biggest problem is a big shortage of doctors and I would have to find one that will take me as a patient, I really feel like I’m trapped and no way out.

@frouke I'm so sorry your physician is falling back on the “it’s all in your head” diagnosis for lack of better answers. I’ve been there before and it is not a healthy place to be. One of my most severe Long COVID symptoms was heart racing/palpitations. My doc prescribed 25mg Metoprolol to see if it would be beneficial, though was concerned about a possible lowering of my blood pressure. It was an amazing turnaround for me. Where my heart would spike from a resting heartrate of 80’s to 90’s to over 200 beats per minute without exertion, at the worst, my resting heartrate decreased to 60’s to 70’s with relatively no spikes at all. My blood pressure has remained steady. I call it a win.

Whenever I read about any new possible treatments for my multiple Long COVID symptoms, I have always brought them to my doc’s attention for consideration. They may not be aware of them, and they usually are appreciative of the information even if they don’t think it would apply to me.

I wish you the best in caring for yourself through this. It is such a challenge but you have a wide community of support faced with the same. Blessings! You are not alone.

The same thing is happpening to me. At the mere mention of covid or long-covid, she shuts down and starts with the psychiatric referral. She overlooked my pneumonia and is basically ignoring my various vitamin deficits. It's turned into yet another DIY project, except for the fantastic support from the Urgent Care staff.

@bettyz, thank you for responding to my struggle with getting help, I was so happy to see a cardiologist because I haven’t really had much help with this, sadly he was not open to my story about long covid. I don’t know what to do anymore, I can feel I’m wearing out from it, I’ve had to be strong because of health problems but this is my heart and I’m scared and at a complete loss as to what I can do about it. I don’t have much access to doctors and if I get a referral it takes a long time to see anyone.

I have a cardiologist who had my heart rate & afib under perfect control, but my PCP decided to discontinue my alprazolam < xanax> almost cold turkey. My blood pressure has been high and my heart is racing so I've decided that I *will* see a psychiatrist and get my Rx reinstated. It was for only 1mg and it feels spiteful, but I'm also fighting pneumonia & a uti and I resent this added strain on my already-stressed body. (I can't see the cardio until Fall.)
I refuse to take antidepressants as they have a reverse effect on me so I've chosen a psychiatrist who specializes in medicine management. Once I am settled down I will continue to shop for a new PCP, and I may not mention long covid on the first visit. If he/she can treat my issues w/o reference to covid, then maybe that's the best I/we can hope for.

Together we will find solutions!

With so much information about Long Covid now, I don't understand why some doctors turn their back to the patient. I am so happy to find this support group. I had covid in 2020, 2022 and 2023 was the worst, but never ended in the hospital. I am 68 years old healthy always never took any medication. Now doctors want to prescribe medication without a diagnostic. I will get into a Long Covid Clinic in September and I hope that they will be able to help me.

I’m 73 and was in ICU in May 2024 with Covid. Needed a Pacemaker at the end.
I developed Covid Long Haul symptoms… Extreme Fatigue, Loss of taste, loss of appetite, brain fog and dizziness with fast vision blurring.
Went to primary doctor and was told nothing can be done that I must wait for it to end… weeks, months or…
My husband is 80 and trying to care for me but it’s wearing him down.
Does anyone have an experience that they can share with me that might help? Thank you in advance.
