STOP! Don't do this if you have osteoporosis
I am starting this thread hoping people will post things they've done that they have regretted, for one reason or another, when suffering from osteoporosis.
I'm going to start the conversation with a list of things we've learned already, and we are newbies!
1. Lift objects heavier than recommended by your physician (for my husband, that means nothing heavier than 5 pounds right now, with 3 fractures).
2. Don't bend at the waist! He got a fracture bending to empty the dishwasher.
3. Be cautious when driving - avoid rough roads, bumps, and go very slow over speed bumps.
4. We had planned to go on a boating tour (on a commercial fishing boat) on the ocean. After seeing a boat rocking and bouncing over choppy water we decided not to go.
5. Do not slouch when sitting in a chair or couch. If you're going to rest for any period of time on a couch elevate your legs (per our physical therapist).
6. Do not try any exercises until you have cleared it with your doctor, especially before your doctor confirms your fracture is stable.)
Please add to the discussion. I think this could be useful to people, especially people new to this.

Thanks for the info on calcium.
@ldg001
Thanks! I'm checking out the Doterra site.
@ldg001
Thanks for sharing your exercises and also the yoga 28 day plan. I'm going to check it out.
@ldg001
Thanks for the info on Doterra. I'm definitely going to check it out and do research. That's something I'm definitely good at - research - after having worked as a paralegal for years. I appreciate the details you've provided about the oils such as them needing to be diluted. I am totally new to oils so I know there's a ton to learn. From what you're saying and your experience it sounds like the time spent researching would be worth it.
@jasperina
Thanks for the info. I'll check them out, including his book.

Taking my husband off the prednisone unfortunately is not an option at the moment. However, we are doing a taper and he's down from 80 mg per day to 17.5. We will continue to taper until he can go off of it, as long as he doesn't have a relapse. He's taking Actemra which is a weekly injection the FDA approved for GCA and it helps with the tapering of prednisone. It comes with its own side-effects but sometimes you have to weigh the risks vs benefits. I wish you well too.
Just a note on being cautious when choosing essential oils. doTERRA in particular is a multi-level marketing company and they have been known to promote unfounded claims. From what I understand, their oils are not organic and the phrase "certified pure therapeutic grade" is actually a made-up marketing slogan that is not an industry certification. Essential oils can be hazardous if used internally and can also be irritating when used externally. Really important to get quality oils along with advice from knowledgeable herbal practitioners on their use, efficacy and most importantly, safety.

I'm sorry to hear you have diabetes and kidney disease. I wish you the best of luck and healing. I will contact his endocrinologist to see what she thinks about the Prolia.
Yes, there is a lot to learn and really worth researching. Many are against and/or do not believe, but I do what is best for me. They have certainly given me a better quality of life and have been worth the risk of "dangers"......
My neighbor got me started on the oils, my first one was Frankincense. She had a kidney disease, and was on so many medications that were making her sick. One of those was prednisone . She was young and was not done with having a family, but was told not to get pregnant due to the medications. On some of her family's urging she starting treating herself with certain oils. In one month she got off of all her meds, left her doctor stunned , he could not believe it. Of course she still continued to see her doc and get regular checkups to make sure all was ok. In a few months she went on and had a child, and later another after that. She no longer has a kidney problem. A friend of mine had her husband in hospital with cancer, her doctor told her to put the frankincense on bottom of his feet and at the area where his cancer was. Unfortunately he didn't make it, he was too far gone. Some of these oils are like antibiotics and very powerful, we have to be careful on their use.
Good luck
I understand, we do what we need to do.
Doterra used to have a site that was called "everythingessential.me"...... it was a great and helpful site, but the FDA made them take it down. I used to use it almost daily, it was a great learning tool. The good ole FDA....UGHHHHH!
