I seem to have the opposite going on: actual prunes help—only a little but better than nothing I guess—whereas prune *juice* doesn’t help at all. (I’ve heard that it could be because the skin of prunes holds moisture in till they arrive in my dry intestinal tract and help whereas all or almost of the moisture in the juice goes into my bladder; they say some people are born that way, their body just doesn’t process correctly any or much of any liquid they drink so we have to struggle through life with these dry intestinal tracts.)
开塞露 is a traditional medicine, super cheap but very effective.
Also did you ever try boil vegetable + water (1:3) for like carrot, onion, tomato, cabbage for 20 mins and drink one cup in the morning, one cup in the
evening? The point is for people with digestive issue, cooked veggies is better than raw veggies to absorb.
I hope you best of luck!

I think that stress thing is easier said than done. That’s something I’m working on right now! I eat the right foods, I exercise with a 30 minute walk daily if the weather is under 100°. We’ve been teetering between 113° and 118 here in Las Vegas so walking is not too easy right now. In lieu of that, it’s laps around Costco in Walmart😂 Also, at 72 years of age, and with type two rosacea, I have to stay out of the heat and the sun whenever possible. Probiotics do not make my stomach happy at all so I get them through kefir and fermented foods instead. Your suggestions are all excellent and I think I’ve kicked most of the boxes. If I could consistently handle stress better and exercise a little more regularly, then at least I would be able to say I’ve done everything I could. Thank you again for your help!
No problem. I also find a free/easy way to exercise. If you google "pulmonary rehabilitation exercise", you will find many videos with mild exercises so you can exercise at home at any time!!
Sorry for too many messages today. I hope they are not ovewhelming. Stay well and stay cool! 🙂
Thank you! I'm retired, also. Even with Miralax, it takes many tries to get it exactly right and even then, I need to adjust it every now and then. I'll give the prune juice a try.
Putting in my all natural regularity for redundant colon: Discovering last December explaining all the years of constipation here is my latest addition. A tablespoon of carob first thing in the morning with the ground seeds and even one before bed or with dinner is helpful. Also I make a non flour, with bananas carob brownies that are great. Good luck. Feeling great.
Hi Carol, I would suggest you to add the veggies one by one until you find that you tolerate all of them. It is not a formula, it is an art. Observe your body, and see how much it needs. It is a personal and customized choice. I notice that my body does not like cucumber now, though it is my most favorite food in childhood. To me potato, tomato and carrots are all good, but beets make me uncomfortable. So I don't touch it. Pumpkin is the best to me as it warms my stomach. I can drink cooked veggies three cups ( for gaining weight, not for constipation though) but it may be too much for others. Also if someone with high blood sugar level may need to limit the intake of potato or pumpkin as they contain a lot of starch. So Listen to your body, be patient, and find the most" fit" food for you. You may eat some " bad" food for a long time without awareness so your body needs time to recover. But once you eat the right food everyday, you will feel more and more comfortable.
All the best! 😀
Hey ladies, I find that drinking warm water helps a lot to my stomach. I don't have any irritation to my empty stomach when taking probiotics. I find people in US drink iced water or cold water a lot and that will be scary to our Asian. 🙂
I don't think magnesium citrate is a stool softener. I think it's closer to a stimulant laxative. It definitely gets things moving for me, but it's too harsh.
