@artemis1886, @jm1, @loriesco, @jlharsh, @dcain01 and others have mentioned taking Leqvio in other discussions and may have some experience to share with you.
How do I see their comments
@shelby29 I’m happy to provide any information I can. I am 59 years old, have genetically high cholesterol and can’t think of a therapy we haven’t tried, including LDL apheresis. After some time implementing the treatment my doctor outlined my LDL has never been better. I take rosuvastatin, ezetimibe and have had 3 Inclisiran injections… so far so good.
Thank you....hopefully this will work for him too. They have him staying on Lipitor and ezetimibe wh8le receiving infusions. Does your insurance pay for it.
I am and I love it. Zero side effects and dramatically lowered by cholesterol without taking statins!
Ah, good question. My insurance does cover it after going through their appeal process when it was initially denied. The bulk of the charge each time is for the drug plus a charge for the clinic that administers it. Now my doctor submits a request for prior approval required by my insurance company that is good for one year. The drug company also has an assistance program depending on your unique situation. https://www.leqvio.com/savings-and-support
For some reason the drug works better when it is combined with the other medications we take instead of by itself. All the more reason to find a doctor you trust and keep asking questions. We all respond differently.
Been on Leqvio injections for over a year, no issues, and Great results. Medicare and supplemental pay for it. Takes some time to get the approvals. Had horrible reactions to every statin and exetimibe. Based on my experience it's wonderful, but remember we all react differently to meds.
Is prior authorization required for Leqvio - from Medicare and Blue Shield Supplemental PPO Insurance
I’ve had horrible reactions to statins and ezetimibe as well. Not fun, huh!?! I said I would never take ezetimibe again, and as strange as it sounds my LDL was not ever lower than when I took a very infrequent low dosage of one particular statin. More wasn’t better. I was off of all medications for a time and now trying again with some success. I’m curious, what type of impact does Leqvio have on your LDL? What are your great results? And do you test anything else that may help provide insight into why you react the way you do? Million dollar question, right?
If you haven’t tried the other drugs you will need for your doctor to send A request for a prior authorization they want you to use the cheap stuff first the good stuff they always save for last. Discuss with your doctors the way you might be able to access it for me. I always bring up the fact that I’m gluten and lactose intolerance, and discuss with my doctors the other way it might be made or any drug might be made available to me when I want a particular drug that’s not first in line . While everybody was getting suffering from ibuprofen and Vox poisoning, I saw the news and I asked for the Celebrex that was when I learned that the good drugs are hidden from the public and they make you jump through hoops to get it. The Celebrex, unfortunately still has lactose in it so I take a lactose pill with it, but I don’t have to take the Celebrex every day just on occasion so there’s no other options for me, good luck and don’t let a little bureaucracy get in your way of the right thing happening! The pharmaceutical companies do want you to take the drugs and sometimes they will give samples to the doctors offices so you should also inquire from the pharmaceutical companies what means might be at their disposal to help you get the medication you want
