Might have CLL: Does it come on fast?

2 years ago I went to my PCP for a yearly physical (I was 53 at the time) my WBC came back elevated (22) , but I was on a steroid so I went back for a recheck and my WBC was at (18) so my doctor ordered a smear test which showed some cancer cells, and then he ordered a flow cytometry test and that is where they diagnosed me with CLL, I have no symptoms at all. I do see an oncologist that specializes in CLL he did run some extra blood tests and told me I do not carry the aggressive form of CLL. Currently I'm on a watch & wait I see my oncologist every 6 months for blood draws and I've stayed pretty consistent with my counts and healthy. The first year or so I think was hard to come to terms when you hear "You have Cancer" this website has helped me so much.

My husband had CLL for many years with no symptoms, it was just watch and wait until he ended up in the ER with a kidney stone and his white blood count was around 100. I was under the impression that was about the magic number where he had to start treatment. He has been on Venclexta and did some immunotherapy last year. He has been in clinical remission since last May and feels great. (He’s 65 now). Thankful for good doctors, medicine and friends and family.

And of course, thankful to God, for many answered prayers!
