Welcome to the new Chronic Pain group.

I’m Kelsey and I’m the moderator of the group. I look forwarding to welcoming you and introducing you to other members. Feel free to browse the topics or start a new one.

Why not take a minute and introduce yourself.

Hi,
My name is Rose, I live in Connecticut.
I had no idea that there was a group for people with chronic pain. I have felt very alone and discouraged.
I've been in chronic pain for over 16 years.

First time writing. Not sure where to put this. Have body pain, many tests, don't know what's wrong. Very depressed. Not sure where to put this. Can't always stand up. Curious what Mayo Pain Management program is like. Live about 1 hour away. Thanks!

It’s important to be very specific with your doctor… I go outside Mayo for pain mngmt

I love Mayo worked there for years….
They have extremely conservative guidelines.. best of luck!

Pain! I can’t seem to get rid of it with exercises, PT. Tried Cymbalta and Gabapentin, but side effects worry me. I am thinking of making an appointment at Mayo spine center. I did have a consultation there several months ago. Wondering if anyone has any specific advice.

James again...I got a call from my surgeon's PA on Monday, and my surgery's scheduled for the first week in October. I'm meeting with the surgery group later this month to iron out the details, but besides cleaning up the mess my lumbar spine is in, they'll likely implant a rod to keep one of the vertebrae from shifting. All I have to do is enjoy the summer sitting on my butt (I'd rather be doing yard work or something...anything)! I'll be the second surgery of the day, so I feel like that's a good time for me while the doc is more awake and fresh rather than late in the day when he's done a bunch. It's on a Friday, so if all goes according to plan, I'll spend the weekend in the hospital and go home Monday after they take out the drain. I'll keep you apprised of the situation, but keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed. Thanks for the good thoughts, prayers or karma!

I am learning that chronic pain is difficult to treat. Also, believe that there are times that the medical profession covers for one another if the problem causing the pain resulted in a treatment , especially surgical error. Sorry for my cynicism.
