Pulsatile tinnitus

Posted by beatricefay @beatricefay, Jun 2, 2018

Started getting heart beat sounds in right ear only. Got an MRA to check the arteries (no results yet). Strangely the sounds start in the evening and continue when I go to bed. I have no idea why it's quiet during the day. Has anyone else had this experience. If my arteries are okay in my brain then I have to look for other causes. Any ideas. I checked medication side effects but that doesn't seem to be the cause. One night I exercised in the evening and I had no sounds, but that didn't work yesterday. I'm perplexed.

Is this the website for advice for doctors? If not, could anyone let me know the website to ask for advice from doctors? I have had pulsatile tinnitus for two and a half months. I checked all the causes of pulsatile tinnitus and found I had none of the causes except my blood pressure was a little bit high at 135/80. I tried to change my diet. My blood pressure went from 135/80 to 125/70 for about a month. Why do I still have pulsatile tinnitus? Will pulsatile tinnitus disappear after blood pressure goes down? Thank you very much for your help.

I have it when my vagus nerve is “not toned”. Had it for months and minths. Then started at least 30 minutes of cardio most days on treadmill or elliptical using interval training. Seldom have it now.

I can hear my heart beating more like a swooshing since I got tubes in my ears for Eustachian tube disfunction. I also can't hear my voice and I hear like I'm talking in a tunnel. At this point I don't know that there is a solution. I do feel like I have some hearing loss and I'm thinking about hearing aids hoping they will help with hearing other people's voices better. As far as the tunnel thing, I think all there is to do is hope it will get somewhat better.

Whooshers.com has a lot of information for everyone, including (especially?) doctors.

I have been dealing with pulsatile tinnitus in my right ear for about a year. After going to my primary, then an ENT, I finally ended up at a neurosurgeon. I had an MRI first which showed narrowing of a vein close to my ear. The neurosurgeon then performed a cerebral angiography and venography. Finally diagnosed with Dural AV Fistula. This is all pretty recent, so good times. I now have to have some kind of procedure where surgeon will block some vessels in my brain to prevent the turbulent blood flow which is causing me to hear blood swooshing in my ear. My point is there always seems to be a cause for this, so don’t give up!

Thanks for sharing. I am 61 and have been dealing with these nonstop whooshing sounds for about a year! I have done all of that as well: ENT, Neurointervention, CT, and Angiography. I have no diagnosis yet.
I have an appointment with Cleveland Clinic next month to see a Sinus Stenosis specialist for an Expansile lesion with heterotopic calcification, that appears to originate near the left frontal sinus outflow tract, encroaches on the ipsilateral orbit, and extends to the contralateral sinus. There seems to be hyperostosis of the associated bone; no concern for skull base dehiscence Hopefully, they will tell me something about PT!

I have this problem which is a pain. My heartbeat goes on in my ears all day long, it's loud and makes it hard for me to get to sleep or stay asleep. I saw an ENT at UofM; they did an MRI and my cardiologist had my caroided arteries checked. The MRI showed a growth near the eardrum (I believe that was where it was at). I couldn't have surgery because the problem was located right next to the main nerve for the face so the surgery would have been too risky. This type of tinnitus is extremely rare.
