Did you follow a recipe? I remember putting a plastic bag sealed with brine on top of the pickles then a heavy stoneware plate to keep everything submerged, then the cover on the crock. That excludes all air during fermentation.

Yes I do Sue. 🙂 I cross checked several recipes. Plastic bags or plate both works the best. I choose to put a plastic wrap to make a sealed room so all vegetables are submerged. I also cut the top/bottom of the cucumber so the enzyme will not be there. Here is an interesting video to refer to. Will you try or you are an expert already?
