Is it okay to microwave nebulizer or in baby bottle sterilizer?
Was calling some number today to order a few more nebulizers so that if I go away, I won't have to keep cleaning/sterilizing (great suggestion obtained from the forum). I happened to ask the question: "Is it all right to microwave nebulizer in steam bags or in baby bottle sterilizer equipment?" The gal replied an emphatic "no". I was not clever enough to ask why ... suppose plastic might melt or give off something toxic?? Person went on to say that they only recommend boiling (for 5 minutes) or soaking in 1part white vinegar to 3 parts water for at least 30 minutes. I wish that I could find the number that I called but anyone may verify by going on internet and calling a number or live chatting with someone from a reputable nebulizer company. Please advise if you get a different response. Hope that this is helpful.

Hi!
I started sterilizing my equipment with a baby bottle sterilizer bag. Instructions state to add the water { which I added a bit more than it called for} and then sterilized for 2 minutes in the microwave as directed and have had no problem at all. It says "Impresa" on the bag. Maybe it's more sturdy? Good luck!

What brand of nebulizer melted in the steamer?
Morning. I have been using sterilizing bags for over a year but since there are so many people here using bottle sterilizers I purchased dr brown and am waiting for it . My main purpose is to be able to sterilize and dry at once and save some. Time especially at night when I am exhausted. Let’s see how it works
I have also started using Medela bags to supplement boiling. I just neb daily, but use my sinus bottle 2x daily. I boil all a couple times a week, but use the Medela bags after washing equipment after each use with dawn in water that’s just been boiled in between long boils.
I just ran into a issue while on a trip-it was very hard to find wattage on hotel microwaves and I didn’t find it on one. I used same time as at home on that one.
I tried a baby bottle sterilizer after starting out with boiling. I found that the baby bottle sterilizer time, including drying, actually took more of my time. I went back to boiling and have done that for 2 yrs. my routine is to first nebulize and then while I do clearance with my Aerobika, I set the water to boil. I thoroughly rinse off my equipment in very hot water and get in the grooves. I do a final rinse with distilled water because of the minerals in our tap water. Then I boil all of my equipment for 5 minutes. I use a small steel tong to remove the items from the boiling water and place on a double paper towel. The items are so hot when I remove them and shake the water off from the pot, that they dry completely in a very short time.
Twice a week, I give them a good soak before rinsing and boiling, but otherwise my immediate and thorough rinse in very hot water with a final rinse of distilled water before boiling (twice daily) has kept my equipment sterilized.
Parathyroid. Do you sterilize, boil sinus bottles?
Pacathy sorry for the misspelling- my phone does it and I do two things at the same time- nebulizing and writing. The question stays the same- do you boil sinus bottles? I thought you should not. Thank you
I do. I wash in hot soapy water from my hot pot (had boiled) then use the Medela bags most of the time. I boil everything a couple times a week for 10.” I now use the Sqeezy (?) silicone bottle which is designed to allow boiling.
I tried to edit my comment toclarify, but phone isn’t allowing it. The regular NeilMed bottles can’t be boiled 10 min (I had called and asked-they said 5” max), but the new silicone ones can
Everyone, I am trying to get my bearings on Airway Clearance protocols … on the issue of sterilization, my health plan sent me something similar to the below model of nebulizer and compressor . The bag with the nebulizer parts in it expressly states “do not sterilize” even though it is not a disposable model but is to be replaced every six months. Is anyone else using this form of nebulizer? If so, are you successfully sterilizing it? I have purchased a Bololo baby bottle sterilizer and was hoping I could sterilize my nebulizer parts in that, as others here do. Is there another model of nebulizer I should be using for sterilization purposes? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
