Diverticulitis in your liver

My sister in hospital. Dr said she has diverticulitis in her liver. Apparently they are going to "suck them out (one is 4 inches long)" then test for cancer. Has anyone ever had this?

@mikalleb, it sounds like you may need to ask more questions to understand what is going on. Diverticulitis is inflammation of irregular bulging pouches in the wall of the large intestine. Typically, the wall of the large intestine, also called the colon, is smooth. An irregular, bulging pouch in the colon wall is called a diverticulum. Multiple pouches are called diverticula.

Diverticula are common, especially after age 50. They are usually found in the lower part of the colon. Most often, they don't cause problems. When these pouches become inflamed, the condition is called diverticulitis. Read more here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diverticulitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20371758

Pyogenic liver abscesses are a rare complication of diverticulitis and inflammatory bowel disease and can be potentially serious.

Might it be liver abscesses that your sister has? Has she had further treatment or testing?

She had a drain put in her liver then out. Then back in again, now out. Getting out of hospital today w a pic line for heavy duty antibiotics. May need it in 2-4 weeks. It's been a rough go.
