My neuropathy comes from my lumbar Stenosis and arthritis. I was taking gabapentin for the neuropathy, then I learned it can cause low bone mass. Now I have osteoporosis. I am just not sure what to do.

Hi Mary,
I also have peripheral neuropathy. Not totally sure what is causing it. I'm 74 now, when I was 21 I was in a car accident as a passenger while grocery shopping for my mother in S.F. We were T-boned when I was in a small Toyota Corolla by a big Ford LTD, hit us on my side (passenger side) flipped us over landed on top of us and shoved the car into the corner house. I wound up with a fractured pelvis in 3 places & sacro-iliac as well, also knee cut to bone by glove box. Of course groceries, orange juice, glass etc. in my hair, head etc. Today these are my problems from the accident per the P.T. from the visit on 6/29/22.

Osteoarthritis
Sprain of sacroiliac region
Rotator cuff (capsule) sprain right
Primary osteoarthritis of both feet
Sacroiliitis (CMS/HCC)
Spondylosis of lumbosacral region
Personal history of healed traumatic fracture
Presence of both artificial knee joints
Varicose veins of unspecified lower extremities with other complications (CODE)
Lymphedema in legs and feet
Knee instability, unspecified laterality
Weakness of both hips
Disorder of sacrum
Lumbar disc disease
Spondylolisthesis at L4-L5 level
Cervical disc disease
Cervical spinal stenosis

So I'm not sure which of the above has cause my neuropathy, plus I have had
5 knee surgeries, 2 of which were knee replacements, 2 c-sections due to the pelvis fracture,
kinda like a roll of the dice. Hope you are doing well. I get a lot of burning feet, have to soak my feet in water every night before bed and my daughter puts Biofreeze Roll-on on bottom of feet. Wear men's tennis shoes per Podiatrist, have lot of toe room Hoka or Topo, can't have top of sock hit top of feet, have to pull way up on foot. that's all, take care, sorry run on sentence. Too much to do today, got to get to it. ugh.
