Has anyone experienced edema in their ankles and feet?
I contracted PMR 8 months ago when I came down with Covid. it’s started with stiffness in my neck and swelling in my hands rests. It has progressed to my shoulders, hips, and even a little in my knees. Within the past six weeks, I have gotten edema swelling in my feet and ankles and a pain in my right calf muscle. I am not taking prednisone and just intermittently use Advil for pain. Has anyone experienced this swelling in the feet and ankles?

Thanks very much for your reply and the very detailed report of your journey. It’s very helpful to know someone else’s experience so you can use some of what they tried that worked. I very much appreciate it.
I was diagnosed with PMR 11 months ago. I have gone from 20 mg of Prednisone to now taking 5 mg.
At times I have noticed my lower legs and ankles are swollen . Has anyone else experienced this ?
I am also gaining weight with no change to my diet. I know that Prednisone may be the cause but any suggestions would be welcomed.

Yes
Yes. I sometimes notice my left ankle swollen at night
I’ve had PMR 2.5 years. I originally started loosing a lot of weight especially arms and legs. then all of a sudden about 2 months ago while on low doses of Prednisone (below 4mg) I started gaining a lot of weight. Seems very opposite.
I had edema in my lower leg and ankles from 15 mg prednisone to about 8, then it slowly went away. Now, at 4 1/2mg, there is nothing.
Thanks very much for your response. How long did your edema last from start to finish?
Thanks very much for your response. My edema is the least in the morning when I wake up because I sleep with my feet slightly elevated. But it gets worse during the day when I am on my feet. Just recently I lost 7 pounds in two weeks. totally unexplained weight loss because I am eating well. I finally decided yesterday to start taking prednisone at the very low dose of 10 mg per day suggested by rheumatologist.
It seems like six months or so, but I'm not sure. I bought wraps from Amazon for my ankles and that helped.
Initially I did but it went away after taking prednisone. Took around 2 months.
