How safe is Famotidine 40 mg ?

I have read that it is not a great idea to stay on it long-term. I don't know what the consequences would be but I have decided to wean myself off since I have no more symptoms. My doctor gave me a schedule to do it. I can still take one if I feel acidy at some point.

I know you posted a long time ago but I’ve been on Pepcid a long time and want to try to wean myself off and was curious. What type of schedule did your doctor give you and did it work? Thank you so much.
