My surgeon was planning a partial replacement, and I was actually happy for that because total TKR is a more painful recovery. After viewing the MRI, he changed his mind and said I would need a total. I actually tried to debate with him to get him to change his mind and just do the partial. He said I had too much damage and would need a full replacement eventually, so he would only do the full. I was upset. SO the point I'm making is that if your doctor felt you could have a partial then I would HOPE that he felt your damage only warranted that. Research the success rate of partial knee replacement as it mostly says it has a 90% success rate, and lasts as long as a full replacement! I'm sorry you need a full TKR so soon after your partial!
