Partial Knee Replacement Destroyed By RLS Or...

My surgeon was planning a partial replacement, and I was actually happy for that because total TKR is a more painful recovery. After viewing the MRI, he changed his mind and said I would need a total. I actually tried to debate with him to get him to change his mind and just do the partial. He said I had too much damage and would need a full replacement eventually, so he would only do the full. I was upset. SO the point I'm making is that if your doctor felt you could have a partial then I would HOPE that he felt your damage only warranted that. Research the success rate of partial knee replacement as it mostly says it has a 90% success rate, and lasts as long as a full replacement! I'm sorry you need a full TKR so soon after your partial! Oftentimes our expectations don't match with the reality of the situation. Would have been great if the MRI was done before the discussion.

At any rate, he might have been sparing you an additional surgery.
