I did try restasis doesn’t work for me , my optometrist has me using a new eye drop called Vevye only been using 4 days maybe been able to tell small difference. The instructions suggest it can take up to 6 weeks. I am also doing IPL [ Opti Light] but only had 1 treatment and this can take 2-3 treatments.I am doing 1 treatment a month.I have been battling over a year I can’t watch TV or read without holding my eyes open with my fingers.
i’ve had severe dry eyes for years. Right now cequa (rx) eye drops are helping alot
Cequa is almost twice the strength of Restasis. its helped me a lot
I need to talk to my optometrist about those if the Vevye doesn’t work for me.
At night I wear dry goggles. I got them at the Mayo eye glass shop. I have been using them for years and they do help a lot. I think you can get the goggles on Amazon.
I also got my tear ducts cauterized and a lot of eye drops.
Good luck.
Dry eye syndrome caused the corneal surface of my eye to deteriorate. I saw a specialist who does Autologous serum (they draw your own blood and spin into eye drops) This healing technique started with skin rejuvenation of burn victims. It took a year but my corneal surface healed perfectly.
But I continued to have dry eyes. Tried Restasis and Lipifllow treatment but nothing worked. All OTC drops as well as prescription ones were ineffective. Until the release of Miebo drop in 2023.
They worked instantly!
However, before Miebo my eyes became inflamed with Dermodex mites. Yuk. So I now daily use eyelid wipes to clean and Dr Fischers Tea tree wipes are soothing and also Cliadex wipes which keeps the mites away.
Also daily I use a miracle home device called Nulids. Kinda like IPL but easier and less expensive. Available on Amazon and Nulids website. It gently massages the melobian glands and cleans and refreshes the eyes.
Warm compress feels good but didn’t bring me long term results.
My daily eye ritual takes a little time and expense, but having healthy moist eyes that can read again is priceless!
I have other friends that use this method and are over the moon with the results.
Good luck; there is relief now for dry eye!
Thank you. I feel your pain. Had mild dry eyes prior to cataract surgery and not extremely dry eyes post surgery. I have only heard about restasis, so appreciate hearing about other treatment options. I can watch TV, but cannot read without vision blurring within about 5 minutes.
Hope to be prescribed something shortly. Apparently, there is also a nasal spray that is new, but uncovered and about $500/mo.
Hi Lori- thanks for taking time to explain in detail.
I will certainly check it out during an upcoming appt.
Love to hear a problem get handled without procedures and drugs, if possible. 👍
My doctor drained my oil glands. He said they were thick like spaghetti. Instant relief. I also now use Restasis which really helps.
How did they drain you’re oil glands and do they have to keep draining them?
