What are some favorite movies?
I have loved movies since I first watched Tarzan as a kid. Now they are a valuable distraction for me as I feel empty and isolated and alienated. Here are a few of my favorites:
Adaptation
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Saving Private Ryan
Little Miss Sunshine

Everything about the movie was so ominous. Especially the sound track. I can hear it playing in my head after all these years.
I can also hear the "Jaws" sound track. I watch it every July 4th! Love the actors. Scary parts is when the shark isn't even present but you hear the music, The movie is 49 yrs. old and I still love it, know every line.
Dr. Zhivago was the first movie I ever saw. It was with my Mom.
My wife's not exactly a cinephile, but she is totally nuts about "Moonstruck". I like it, too. Just something about the scenes out in front of the Met resonates with me. Cher's fabulous, as usual and a young Nicholas Cage showed his promise that was occasionally fulfilled in later roles.
"Here's to swimmin' with bowlegged women." - Sam Quint
was the characters name Sam?? Who knew.
Quint is such a colorful character. "Eleven hundred men went in to the water, 316 men came out...." Quint
"Is that $3,000 bounty on the shark in cash or check?" Denherder. I still bust out laughing at this line every time.
3 grand does'nt seem like enough, especially in today's $ !
I got "Sam" from a Google search. I don't recall if anyone mentions Quint's first name in the film. I always thought "Quint" was his first name.
My favorite dialogue is during the comparing of scars and Richard Dreyfus shows the "scar" from his broken heart.
Here are some movies that I enjoyed.
Idiocracy
An Inconvenient Truth (and its sequel) It inspired me to write a haiku version of it (with pictures).
Planet of the Apes [the first one, from about 1970]
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Inside Out
Being There
Contact
Blazing Saddles
Shape of Things to Come [1936]
Considering how much work was involved.
I'll pay attention next time I watch the movie. Chief Brody chose not to show his appendicitis scar! lol
Some good ones there. Really enjoyed "Contact" especially the ending!
I used to think "Idiocracy" was a comedy .... but anymore, I'm pretty sure it's a documentary ....
