Looking for pediatric endocrinologist recommendation

Posted by nme1985 @nme1985, Jun 22 7:24am

My grandson has a Barter syndrome and was just diagnosed with a thyroid disorder. He is 13. His growth is definitely being affected by all this. Does anyone know a good pediatric endocrinologist in the Philadelphia area? My son-in-law is a surgeon, but when he went to CHOP his son was seen by fellows…he wants a private top doctor if anyone has any information. Thank you for any information.

I hope a member of Mayo Connect can give you a good recommendation.

Mayo Clinic providers do work with other clinics through Mayo Clinic Network. The providers in network have special access to Mayo Clinic's clinical, education and research knowledge .

The following map lists clinics that are part of Mayo Clinic Network:

Sounds like your son-in-law was dissatisfied with providers at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia , were they able to provide any help or advice?

@nme1985, I've added your question to several related groups like About Kids & Teens, as well as the Endocrinology and the Kidney support groups.

It is my understanding that Bartter syndrome is a rare, genetic-related kidney disorder. Does your grandson also consult with pediatric nephrologist?

I know you were asking specifically for pediatric specialists in the Philadelphia area, but I wonder if the Children's Center at Mayo Clinic might be an option, given their multidisciplinary approach. Here's more info about pediatric endocrinology at Mayo https://www.mayoclinic.org/departments-centers/childrens-center/overview/specialty-groups/pediatric-endocrinology/overview
