Prolia doctor prescribing 2 injections of Prolia in just 3 weeks

Dimdina, thanks so much for your reply. I am going to call the Endocrinology Dept tomorrow, & tell the whole deal. That I have never had an inperson appt with her & have only spoken to her once. All communications with her - which have been very few - have been thru the Message Center. My only communications with ANYONE have only been thru the Message Center! And then yesterday I actually have someone call me who tells me I am to take 3 Prolia injections in less than a month!

Several years later, now, Evenity.

Yes I intend to contact her. I also wrote a message o the portal to the efect that I have been aware of many osteoporosis partients who are able to have conversations with their doctors while I have not met or talked with anyone. All I get are messages.

Hi @sandrac, were your dexa readings stable during holidays from reclast? If so, for how many years? Was your and your doctor's decision to use evenity based on your fracture resulting from a fall? Are your bone markers being monitored before and during evenity? Thank you and best of luck!

I actually thought it was not legal to prescribe without seeing a patient.

I was stable and even improved to osteopenia after Prolia and Reclast. (I had 4-5 days of feeling fluids right after Reclast and then it went away.)

Yes, the Evenity was prescribed as a result of fracturing two vertebrae after a fall down some wooden stairs. The doc said the impact would have caused the fractures even had I not had osteoporosis (or possibly done worse, I was lucky) but felt I needed to shore things up and help with the healing and to fortify the bones. I have only had 4 months of Evenity so far, so no tests yet. Healing process and PT have taken the better part of a year, so far. I will do whatever I can to protect my 74 year old bones! The only drug I ever reacted at all badly to was actonel, years ago. It helped my bones but reflux was bad and I am a classical singer and could not tolerate it.

Just rewatched Dr. Ben Leder's video on Combining and Sequencing drugs. His chart showed that Evenity after Reclast is less effective but the reduction in efficacy is not as great as with Forteo/Tymlos. Basically 10% vs 14% improvement in spine and 3% vs 5% in hip.

To me, it sounds like Forteo/Tymlos followed by Prolia for one year, followed by Reclast for one year, followed by Evenity, then Reclast and maybe alternating Evenity and Reclast, might be a path in the future for those of us with severe problems. The combo of 9 months Tymlos/Forteo and 12 months Prolia followed by Reclast would be even better according to his video, if help is needed faster.

@guinivere This is so puzzling. I get and understand how very busy clinics and physicians are these days. Have you talked with your primary care provider (PCP) about this? It seems like something your PCP would want to know and could help you with. I'm sitting here shaking my head wondering why you haven't had an actual appointment to talk, in person, with the doctor who prescribed the osteoporosis medication. Will you let me know what you find out?

Are you sure both visits are accurate or did office mess up dates?
Or is one visit consult and 2 nd the shot?
I just stopped 5 yrs on Prolia every 6 months with labs being done within 30 days prior to each injection.
