PMR and Long Covid

Anyone else diagnosed with Long Covid after diagnosis with PMR? I was diagnosed with PMR October 2022 after six months of symptoms. In 2023 I had Covid three times with long Covid symptoms starting in September 2023. I think the fatigue and shortness of breath is much worse since long Covid added.

That hasn’t specifically happened to me (it’s my dad who has PMR), but I have a different autoimmune inflammatory arthritis years before my COVID infection in 2022. I also had POTS before, and I eventually got diagnosed with long COVID because I developed new and worsening symptoms that never returned to my original baseline.

In the long COVID clinic where I was diagnosed, they told me they are seeing patients like me—with underlying, including autoimmune conditions—also developing long COVID. One school of thought is long COVID may be an autoimmune condition.

I’m sorry it’s happened to you, but you’re not alone in your experience.

Thanks. I know one autoimmune condition makes one more susceptible to more.
