Hello friends, this will be my first trip to the Mayo Clinic and I am having so much anxiety about it. What was your trip like if you came from out of town? What helped you, what was a challenge? Any tips regarding lodging, RV parks, any financial assistance you applied for? Thanks for reading, would love to talk!

What mayo location are you going to? With 3 locations Mn, Az, or florida you might get the right info but in wrong state.

@grammynormie,

Welcome to Mayo Connect. Starting at a new medical clinic with new providers, is always stressful.

As Davj asked, what location are you going to. Do you already have appointment scheduled?

@grandmanormie. I completely understand the anxiety about going to a new place with new providers. The anticipatory anxiety is often worse then the actual situation you are anxious about - at least that is my experience. Once you get to Mayo you will find helpful and compassionate providers like you have likely never experienced in one place. That's my repeated experience over 6 years since I began going for care to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

When is your appointment? Which Mayo Clinic (Minnesota, Florida, Arizona) are you going to?

I always say to myself, "I can do this.....as long as there is no pain."

I have worked therein the past. Leave plenty of time. Never be afraid to ask for a volunteer or staff for directions. Even going and finding the building your going to a day early can help lower anxiety.
