Lupus vs RA vs ??

Hi. So I’ve had all of these odd-ball symptoms for years now. And suddenly (my pcp) it’s decided that I have hypothyroidism and I’m put on levothyroxine. All the symptoms point to Lupus. DNA antibodies negative, ANA always positive, chromatin antibody negative, RNP antibody positive, and RPR with reflex was non-reactive. That being said, the rheumatologist who I saw for my fibromyalgia, who told me not to ever come back, did do some test (with AVISE) that were negative for lupus and a ton of other things- all seem to be negative; including thyroid antibodies. So I’m going to see an endocrinologist regarding thyroid but I’m still at a loss for what might actually be happening with me. Any thoughts are appreciated.

God Bless You! I am going through the same thing. I have had fibromyalgia for 29 years. Diagnosed with Hashimotos (Hypothyroidism) in 2017 and Graves Disease (Hyperthyroidism) in 2023. I have bilateral osteoarthritis all over and was diagnosed with Long Covid in 2022. I still have a high C-reactive protein level and they are not sure why. I just came off eye drops for inflammation in my eyes again that is not related to Graves Disease, so where is the inflammation coming from?

I have symptoms that I do not believe are all related to the above mentioned. My Rheumatologist said that I had borderline Lupus, then he said I didn't.

I have been told that Lupus is hard to diagnose. I am trusting the Lord for answers.

Praying for you right now. I empathize with you.

What did the rheumatologist say about the positive RNP antibodies? I can understand their saying there is not enough evidence for lupus, specifically, but doesn't the RNP antibody confirm something is going on? I am asking.

Some rheumatologists want to follow us every 6 months or annually. They are dealing with very sick folks with kidney failure, lung issues etc. But you have symptoms and deserve help.

I hope that treating your thyroid improves your symptoms.

oooh.. I forgot.. I've had fibromyalgia for 20+ years. I thought that with both of those being positive it would lead to something as well too... apparently not. I'm still searching..

HLA-B27 positive is Lupus Gene ... no matter what some say you have lupus if this is positive my doctor said. You Bloods can go up and down from day to day. We now just treat the symptoms instead of searching for a title. Take care
