@kayak461 Can I ask what test did you have confirm the need for surgery? My dad is almost the same as far as medicine goes . He been on catheter for about a year. Did you have a catheter too? His doctor was ready for TURP then he decided to refer him to other doctor to do HOLEP instead.

When everything started he was dx with Urine Retention, Enlarged Prostate, with Type 2 Diabetes insulin dependence in 2022. First Urologist want to do a TURP. But this was not what he needed. I had to show the doctor the reports of testing he had done. I was bring report him. Most of the time, I was researching everything. The Holep Procedure here in California. 2 years later the foley was out, no prostate meds PSA is 3.6. He is thankful I had medical background. I pretty much detailed everything prior comments. Suzie
