First round of Enhertu a bear! Anyone else?

Hi. 64 year old with stage IV serous endometrial. A year out after many rounds of chemo (carbo, taxol, herceptin) and major surgery, was NED for 6 months. New tumor now pushing against duadenum and some other nodules showing up. Started on Enhertu a week ago and am just flattened with nausea and no energy. Worried I can’t keep this up for many rounds? Taking zofram.. not much help.
Does it get easier? Harder? Drugs that help? Looking for any and all advice as staying active is my coping mechanism. Thanks to all in advance.

@earnoldnpr I’d like to welcome you to Mayo Clinic Connect. It must have been a terrible shock to be NED (no evidence of disease) and then experience the new tumors.

I was diagnosed with endometrial (adenocarcinoma) in 2019 with a recurrence in 2021. I had radiation therapy for the recurrence and haven’t had chemotherapy so I cannot offer my experience there.

We have a wonderful and amazing group of women here in our support group and many of them of had or are currently having chemotherapy. I’m going to tag a few women I know of who have posted recently @mommacandy @charlotte12 @kathyholmes @dj12 @bijou68 @val64 @corday7578

Here is another suggestion to see if anyone here has been on Enhertu. Go to the top of the screen and type Enhertu in the Search bar and see what that turns up for you.

When is your next infusion scheduled? Does your doctor have any other suggestions for managing the nausea?

per clinic's handout:

my premedication for 1. and 2. round is zofran, I'm not sure if via IV, I need to check,
and dexamethasone, 20 mg, IV, to prevent nausea and reaction to chemo

post medication zofran, 8mg tablet, take 1 twice a day starting day after chemo for 2 days
and every 8hrs if needed, I only used it once at home, one pill

I also took dexamethasone, 4 MG, 1 tablet twice daily with meals, starting the day after chemo
for 3 days,

my next round is coming up-

@earnoldnpr NAUSEA...Neverending Always Upset Stomach Easily Abominable.... Nausea has been one of my constant things...i HATE nausea... my pre chemo includes zofran and dexamethasone and then dexamethasone (for 3 days), zofran and compazine after.. i personally found that the dissolvable zofran work SOOOO much better for me, even though its only 4 mg instead of 8... but for me personally
Acupuncture has helped TREMENDOUSLY,,, there was a HUGE world of difference in treatments #1 and #2 .. i started and got acupuncture twice a week after chemo #1 and it truly helps...i still do the dissolvable zofran first thing in the morning (usually before getting out of bed) but definitely don't need any of the others right now...i got back on chemo 7/10...but if you can find a good acupuncturist, and can afford it...give it a try...

Thanks so much @mommacandy. I hadn’t even thought of acupuncture. I had no nausea through many rounds of carbo/taxol/hercep) so this is new.
Hoping it gets better not worse with next rounds. Best to you.

Thank you Naturegirl15. It feels nice to be welcomed. This can be so lonely even with supportive family and friends.
My next infusion is 6/20 and I’m hoping to be stronger by then to handle it better. Seems like some combination of zofram, Dex and compazine might help.

@earnoldnpr I agree with you about feeling lonely through cancer and its treatment even with supportive family and friends. It's good to know that you feel welcomed here.

Thanks for letting me know when you will go to for your next infusion. i'm hoping you will continue to feel better and strong with each day before then.
