Looking for the best lifestyle changes to reduce symptoms
Hi, everyone! My name is Secoyia and I am a 27 year old female. I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Fibromyalgia and MCTD after 15+ years of living with pain & symptoms. My bloodwork was a perfect example of what it needed to show for a diagnosis so I know it is correct.
I don’t have a lot of support and it’s hard to find people who take it seriously and that they are true illnesses. My main thing I am seeking is things I can do to improve my health and decrease my symptoms. I have found a few things that I know exacerbate my symptoms but I’m not having much luck elsewhere. I would rather not go down the route of medication if possible.

Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) gave me ice pick headaches and I felt like bugs were crawling on my face. When I quit taking it, those symptoms stopped.
It did help with my joint point, but, the side effects were horrible.
Maybe see a nutritionist? I have 7 different digestive disorders chronic 11 years. 5 th Gastro Dr .
Every test done ☑️. Seen Functional Medicine practitioners, diet eliminations , acupuncture, hypnotherapy, antidepressants, Pepto daily , RX s ( didn’t work ).
My next step I think is a nutritionist as well ? I lost 10 years of my life to this every day . Best wishes to you .
Last week I was told by my orthopedist that the painful swelling in both of my feet was not due to further injury, but to inflammation, which may be acute and go away in a few weeks or may be chronic, a kind of “rheumatitis”. I then began to search for ways to reduce symptoms and be healed without taking steroids (which would be very harmful for my severe osteoporosis) and other medications that would only suppress symptoms. While doing a search on consumer lab.com, I read about the story and the books of Seamus Mullen,who suffered greatly for years with rheumatoid arthritis until he met and started seeing Dr. Frank Lipman, a functional doctor. I began taking Boswellia for the inflammation yesterday, so don’t expect to notice much difference for a few weeks (which is what I’ve read) and began eating an anti-inflammatory diet. Sounds similar to me-drs only suggested thing was remove my colon or go on Entyvio at $7800./ 8 weeks for life. Niether are options I’m willing to do until I’ve exhausted all triggers which I’ve read can trigger autoimmune diseases. Lots to do- getting blood checked for Lyme disease, histamine levels, tryptase, prostaglandin E2, and bunch more ordered by my functional medicine dr. She also is looking at my stool for pathogens, and ratio of beneficial microbes since there’s a huge gut-brain connection that’s coming out in research as a potential cause of many people’s issues due to antibiotics and processed foods poor diets of western hemisphere. I also had mold exposure so she’s having me add a fiber binder to help my body excrete any residual toxins from remediated mold issue. Putting me on auto immune paleo diet for 6 weeks then adding back one food at a time to see how it triggers symptoms. All this to get to root cause analysis rather then just keep treating symptoms.
@busyyaya What “fiber binder” did she recommend?
Several friend of mine are seeing Dr. Lipman. He seems to be working very well for them... So I hope you have similar results and will report on them here.
Unfortunaately he said he can do nothing for Peripheral Neuropathy so I am going to have to depend on Physical therapy.....
He is obviously very honest because I had several doctors claim to be able to heal my PM with supplements etc. None of that worked....

Xymogen Optifiber Lean - start with 1 capful with full glass of water increasing to 2-3 caps 2x/day with lots of water. Or she said I could use food sources: flax, chia seeds, oat bran fiber, rice bran fiber, psyllium, etc…Fiber is apparently a beneficial binder to help body excrete mold. I have a good fiber recipe with all of that so I’ll go naturally for now and get house checked now that remediated.
