Anyone tried Gabapentin for Fibromyalgia?
I've had fibromyalgia for almost two years. Each flare seems to get progressively worse. I'm trying to figure out what medication to try with the least amount of side effects and withdrawal issues. Has anyone tried Gabapentin? If so, what was your experience?

I had an unusual side effect- the first night I was only supposed to take one pill and then each night increase it by one until I got up to six pills at night. The first night I took it. I woke up in my own bedroom and did not know where I was at for almost 10 minutes it was a horrible feeling! So I called the doctor next morning and she said oh you mind just has to get used to the medication so tonight take two. Well I actually only took one and I’m glad that I did that I was going to give it a fair chance. The second night I woke up in the middle of the night and not only did I , not know where I was. It took over a half an hour before I could register that I was in my own bedroom in my own house! So I decided that I did not want to get used to that medicine and not know where I was at it scared me because I really was befuddled!
Everyone is different but when I was diagnosed they tried every medication finally Gabapentin helped I eventually got up to 600 mg
3 times a day but it was years before that dose I guess I got use to it but all my symptoms are manageable Thank God the burning pain is gone I would lay in bed crying I felt like my whole insides were trapped in a fire
I have been living with Fibromyalgia for over 15 years. Gabapentin was not a solution for me. It just made me irritable and caused weight gain. I have been taking Lexapro for 10 plus year to dial down the intensity of the pain. I am on the kiddie rollercoaster instead of the monster roller coaster.
For sleep improvement I used Magnesium L-Threonate, 4 mg of Naltrexone, and valerian.
What type of magnesium do you take and what dose (I take magnesium glycinate)? Also what dose Lexapro, L-Threonate and valerian and what time of day? Thanks.
Thank you I need all the info I can get about Polyfibmlalgiareumatica.
Isn't that treated with steroids?
Yes but I cannot take steroids after they caused me to have Bronicalthyroidmalysia.
I have tried Gabapentin and experience bad side effects. I did get cortisone injections in my hips and it helped tremendously, and much of my pain was relieved, however, the next injections gave me little relief and after a couple months I had a flare up that lasted 3 weeks. I am currently living with the pain. I also experienced Irritable Bowel Syndrome C and my doctor gave me a prescription for Linzess, which has help, but the drug is very expensive.
What does of Gabapentin do you take and did you every try it w/o other meds like Cymbalta and find it helped? Also any side effects? Thanks.
Thank you ..and good luck and God speed to yoi
