How do you deal with aging?
How do you emotionally handle aging and knowing that you only have a limited number of years left in your life? I'm turning 80 years old in 5 months, am in quite good health, work fulltime, and am incredibly grateful for the life I have. But, I find myself obsessed with the thought that I only have "x" amount of years left in my life. I've never figured out how to live one day at a time. Any suggestions from those of you around my age or older would be SO appreciated! (I'm "kind of" spiritual, but not really religious so that's not something that seems to help with my fear.)

I do not believe as you do. I am responsible for everything I do. I really wish people responding here would not drag religion into this. It is not for everyone and some can find it offensive.
Even though my beliefs are very different, I don't find anything offensive with those who talk about the comfort they find in their religious beliefs. Frankly, I wish I had the calm solace they have when it comes to life's challenges.
prcrowe--I enjoyed your thoughts. I feel that calm solace can come from many sources, including ethics. But maybe we need a self-aware approach--it certainly isn't spontaneous for me! In terms of the general conversation here, just speaking personally, I like hearing about a variety of beliefs but I'm no fan of being told what to believe by other people.
I do not find your comments offensive. I am 76 soon to be 77 and find it helpful to mental and physical health to “ live and let live”. Everyone has different beliefs and thoughts and as I get older I feel just being kind and charitable to others regardless of their beliefs etc goes a long way towards my health. Of course the right to throw a punch ( physical or verbal) ends just before my nose. Let’s just be kind to each other here ❤️
@cb3 @prcrowe @willow5 @bwitched52, I love your idea of an exercise discussion forum. @becsbuddy started this walking group a while back that you may wish to join.

Or @cb3, perhaps would like to start a new discussion in the Aging Well support group and members could share daily, weekly or occassionally their activities they did. It's a superb idea.
Speaking of exercise, see this Mayo Clinic Minute: Aging and the benefits of exercising
See you there, alth!
I swim laps 6 days a week
@ age 84
Only swam once a week when I grew up
And only in the summer!
