Recommended Vitamin D levels for fibromyalgia
I've read that many fibromyalgia patients have low Vitamin D levels, which can cause increased pain. Does anyone know what Vit D levels are recommended? My levels have always been on the low side of the range 30-100. Six months ago it was 27.8 so my Dr increased my Vitamin D supplement to 3,000 IU/day. Now my levels are 40.9. I'm wondering if that's high enough, since the range goes up to 100.

Hey There! My pharmacist said for women it is recommended for your D3 level to be at least 50 for best results. Mine is at 51 for the first time in over 10 years.
I take Micro Ingredients Brand of D3 (5,000 i.u.) + K2 (100 mcg) for better absorption due to being on a PPI (Protein Pump Inhibitor....Prescription Protonix for Acid Reflux) as these meds cause you NOT to be able to absorb supplements as well.
This brought my low D3 up in a short time. Please talk to you doctor about this before trying as this one is a little higher dosage than what is normally recommended.
Low D3 can make Fibromyalgia worse (I have Fibromyalgia) as it causes you to have more pain and fatigue if it is low.
Hugs & Prayers....
I'd like to invite @jobby99, @whattodo, and @pamegannp to this discussion as they have all discussed vitamin d levels in the fibromyalgia support group on Connect in the past.
@ripley - have you discussed this with your care provider?
Between 20-50 overall vitamin D. I was at a 6 in January and my primary put me on once a week vitamin d supplement. Now my numbers are back to 31 so I am being taken off of the supplement.
Be sure that your vitamin B12 is up also. I was falling a lot and couldn't figure out why and my doctor told me that my B12 was so low terrible. I found that if I keep it up it also helps my pain.
You are so right. I get the B12 injections. Thank you!
I'm glad to read this because I've been getting conflicting advice on Vit. D levels. I need to get checked again to see where I am right now (had to take the high dose 4 weeks a month ago). Also, glad to read about the B12 - I don't take that but it sounds like I might need it since I'm trying (hard!) to switch to a mostly plant based diet. So good to have advice from real life people
If my Vitamin D level is above 60 I feel good. I could not get to this level until I took Vitamin D Plus K2. Vitamin D along did not work for me.
