Pre diabatic neoropathy

Hi All

Please let me know if anyone in the group diagnosed with pre diabatic neoropathy and felt better after giving up rice and suger. What are the tests helped. Also after how many days pre diabatic results in type 2 diabetes.

Thanks

Hello @sufiyan2kom, I have been in the pre-diabetic category for many years and was diagnosed in 2016 with idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy after having numbness/tingling symptoms for over 20 plus years. It's only been the past 3 or 4 years that I have started eating healthier and exercising more to lose weight and try to work my way out of the pre-diabetic category and hopefully prevent developing diabetes.

I have felt much better overall since eating healthier but it hasn't had a big impact one way or another with my neuropathy symptoms. If you haven't seen the Low-carb healthy fat living. Hello
@johnbishop
I have started low carbs diet and no suger from last 1 month and I am feeling little better now. Burn burning is still there in my feet. How can we diagnose small fiber neoropathy and even if it is diagnosed will it make any change in treatment other than gabapin.How long does it takes to get the pain severe or make you restricted in the home.
I am 38 now and feeling helpless as I am still struggling to perfect treatment. My friend has neoropathy due to diabetes and if he control’s diabetes he finds relief in nurve pain.
Thanks

Hi @sufiyan2kom, It is a struggle finding something that helps provide relief for the neuropathy pain. I think eating healthier is one of the puzzle pieces that can help but probably not all by itself. I know it's difficult not to feel helpless at such a young age as 38 but I'm hoping you keep searching for answers on what might help. The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy has a list of complementary and alternative treatments if you haven't already seen it - https://www.foundationforpn.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Complementary-and-Alternative-Treatments-Revised-2020-final.-1.pdf.

You mentioned in an earlier post that you had a mild pinched nerve at L4/S1. Do you think that may be a possible cause of your pain?
