Rash around the stoma
Has anyone or does anyone have a rash around their stoma and what have or had you done to make it better or go away? I have a rash that will not go away and have tried several different things with no success in getting rid of the rash. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

That’s what I’m thinking….its either that, or moisture from sweat around the outer edge is causing moisture associated dermatitis?
I’m also wondering about taking a shower on a day I don’t change the flange, it stays wet for at least 30 minutes after.
...and sometimes more often, if the need arises.
It may not be drying as well underneath as you think. I blow dry mine after I shower.
That’s a good idea!
I've been following this thread and it sounds like contact dermatitis. Others that had the issue in my support group have had good success using a hair dryer after showering to ensure the area is completely dry before attaching the barrier.
I also use a dryer every time I change the appliance — warmth helps seal the wafer/barrier/flange to your skin.
Have you seen a WOCN? They specialize in wound and ostomy treatment. You might be having a reaction to the appliance, a fungal infection or something else.
Every time I take a shower I change everything to control order and also to not worry about any unknown and unwanted residual moisture staying on my skin afterwards for any length of time.
I meant “odor” not order. 🤭
