@swimmergirl

I have had continued knee/leg pain since my robotic TKR in Aug’22. Unfortunately I also developed chronic venous insufficiency and am wearing a thigh high compression stocking daily. I did get a genicular nerve block with some relief so had the ablation 3 weeks before traveling to Europe in April this year . It took almost 3 weeks for the ablation to totally kick in, but the air travel and ability to be on my feet were a significant ( at least 80%) improvement over the year before when I did a similar trip. I still have some leg pain, but I attribute a lot of it to the vascular complications. I swim, do weights and stretches in the gym, ride my bike and play competitive doubles pickleball….feel better when I am moving. I’m hoping to get a lot of mileage out of the nerve ablation and continue to gain or maintain my strength as well as manage my discomfort. My ROM is 123 and I do have some scar tissue build up in my quad tendon and tight hip flexors. I’m 70 and get stiff, but getting in the pool for 2 miles every morning is like a shot of WD-40. Hope you can find something that works for you to manage your symptoms.

I had a hip replacement this year and Drs wanted to give a nerve block I refused because 2 yrs ago I had knee replacement I was given a nerve block when I awoke I had femoral nerve damage. Felt like firecrackers exploding in my right leg. They were stunned that iI said no, but it took 2 years and tons of PT to have the femoral nerve heal. Drs said the pain will be extraordinary, I said I'll take my chances or otherwise I may risk impairment and wind up in a wheelchair or spend 2 years in PT again. Just want to mention the damage I have is extensive damage due to 30 years of arthritis, so this is not the regular experience for patients.
